What is x402 and how does payment work?

x402 is the HTTP-native pay-per-call protocol: call a paid route without payment and you get HTTP 402 with an accepts[] body (scheme, network, amount in USDC atomic units, and the payTo wallet). Retry with an X-PAYMENT header and the settlement confirmation comes back in X-PAYMENT-RESPONSE. It needs no account and no human — the paying wallet is the identity. See the one-minute walkthrough.
